Chevrolet service

Summer is a great time to drive around the neighborhood or plan a road trip with friends. Getting your vehicle serviced ensures it can operate smoothly as it gets hotter. Lester Glenn Chevrolet recommends these Chevrolet service tasks before setting out on summer fun.

Test Your Vehicle’s Battery

You’ll want to check your vehicle’s battery before planning a long-distance trip. Rising summertime temperatures can accelerate a battery’s chemical reactions, shortening its lifespan. Our team can replace your old battery if its power is running out.

Change Your Engine Oil

As temperatures rise in summer, your engine’s oil will become prone to thinning out, impacting its ability to lubricate properly. It can also lead to sludge build-up and overheating. Replacing your old, dirty oil with fresh, thicker oil can improve your vehicle’s fuel efficiency and reduce engine wear caused by friction.

Inspect Your Tires

If you plan to drive frequently during summer, consider getting your tires inspected and rotated to minimize uneven tread wear. We also recommend checking your tires’ air pressure levels, since they fluctuate as it gets hotter.

Check Your Air Conditioning System

Of course, it’s important to check if your cabin’s air conditioner is functioning properly to ensure you and your passengers stay cool while driving to the beach. Some signs of a faulty air conditioning system include unusual sounds and a weak airflow.

Check Your Coolant Levels

The main purpose of coolant is to regulate your engine’s temperature to prevent overheating. If your coolant levels are low, we can refill it for you. We will also check your radiator’s hoses for cracks or leaks.
