Inside the Redesign: 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Few redesigns arrive with this much changed at once, and the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a case study in going all-in. Near Toms River, Lester Glenn Chevrolet can give you a clear-eyed look at what actually separates it from the outgoing model. Here's where to start.
Power and Performance
Chevrolet spread four powertrains across the new lineup. A 2.7-liter TurboMax opens the range, joined by the segment-exclusive 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel, a next-generation 5.7-liter V8, and an all-new 6.6-liter V8. Chevrolet calls that 6.6-liter the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class; final horsepower, torque, towing, and payload numbers have not been released yet. A 10-speed automatic pairs with every engine, and four-wheel-drive trims of the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 now include the Z71 Off-Road Package as standard.
Technology Features
The cabin leans hard into digital displays. A 16.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.2-inch digital Driver Information Center are standard on every trim. High Country and ZR2 add an 11.5-inch passenger screen, a Head-Up Display, and a Rear Camera Mirror for more than 60 inches of combined space. Dual wireless charging, a Multi-Flex center console, and Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance with trailering capability round things out on the new Chevrolet model.
Safety Features
Safety equipment expanded across every trim this year. Standard features now include Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert, Reverse Automatic Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Front and Rear Park Assist, Rear Pedestrian Alert, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, Forward Collision Alert, Safety Alert Seat, and an HD Rear Vision Camera. Super Cruise is standard on High Country and ZR2, and available on Silverado and Trail Boss.
Off-Roading
Off-road hardware sets three trims apart. Custom Trail Boss and Trail Boss get a 2-inch lift and 34-inch mud-terrain tires. ZR2 adds a 2-inch lift, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, locking front and rear differentials, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and a specialized off-road hood, while the available ZR2 Bison Edition adds AEV bumpers, rocker protection, 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and skid plates protecting key drivetrain components.
