Working on brakes after a Chevy recall check

Performing a Chevy recall check is a simple way for you to stay informed about potential issues with your vehicle. It can also help you improve the safety of you and your passengers on the road in the long run. Lester Glenn Chevrolet is here to highlight the steps to follow when checking for a potential recall for your vehicle.

Find the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for Your Chevrolet Model

Before checking if your specific Chevrolet vehicle has an open recall, you’ll want to look up its 17-character vehicle identification number (VIN). You can typically find your VIN on the driver’s side dashboard or driver’s side door jamb. You can also find it on your vehicle’s title, insurance card, or vehicle registration form.

Check for Open Safety Recalls Online

Once you have your VIN, input it through the Chevy recall search tool on the GM website. This free database has details about your Chevrolet vehicle’s open safety recalls. Alternatively, you can also search for open recalls through a tool on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

What to Do If You Have an Open Recall

If your Chevrolet model has an open recall, you’ll typically receive a letter from the manufacturer in the mail. After reviewing the recall details, you can reach out to us to schedule a recall repair appointment. Once the recall repairs are completed, we recommend keeping all paperwork related to the recall and repair service.
