Engine Options

When you visit our Toms River, NJ, Chevy dealership, we’ll show you that the Chevy Silverado 2500 and the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 are offered with the same two powerful engines. The trucks’ base powerplant is a 6.6-liter V8 engine, producing 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. An optional diesel engine is the other powerplant, and it comes through with 975 lb-ft of torque and 470 horsepower.

Both engines pair with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission and either rear- or all-wheel drive. Considering the Chevy Silverado 2500 is a three-quarter-ton truck, and the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 is a one-ton pickup, both workhorses are sure-footed with either drivetrain. Each truck has precise steering, which makes both easy to maneuver on crowded streets.

Capabilities

As you go through the new Chevy trucks in our showroom, you’ll see how powerful they are. With the right equipment and diesel Duramax engine, the Chevy Silverado 2500 can tow up to 22,500 lb and haul as much as 3,534 lb. Trucks with the base engine have a gross combined weight rating of 26,000 lb, and they can haul up to 3,759 lb without breaking a sweat.

If the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 is outfitted appropriately, it can tow up to 36,000 lb and haul as much as 6,820 lb. With numbers like those, it’s no wonder “HD” stands for heavy-duty.

Standard Equipment

The Chevy Silverado 2500 and the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 have some desirable features in common. Both trucks have a forward collision warning and intervention system, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and a rearview camera.

On the technology front, each truck has Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity. They also have a seven-inch touchscreen that’s intuitive and easy to use. A Google-based infotainment system is standard for both pickups.
